Jeanne Williams is a member of Life Center and an educator who now uses her skills to minister to people in Jamaica. She first visited Jamaica in 2005 and volunteered at orphanages and schools, and ministered in prisons and felt like the Lord captured her heart for missions work. During the 2006-2007 school year, she followed the Lord’s call to move to Jamaica and teach at a private Christian school in a 6th grade classroom with special needs students. During this time, she saw first-hand how the Jamaican children struggle with the “Grade Six Achievement Exam’. How a student performs on this test determines whether or not they are able to attend school in the future.
Jeanne has been a teacher, teacher-trainer, and administrator for the past 35 years. God is now using those experiences to help co-author a textbook series to help the sixth graders of Jamaica improve their test performance. The authors’ prayer is to get the book to the children at minimal cost. Eventually, the goal is to be able to volunteer their services to the most impoverished schools in Jamaica, assisting the children in receiving a more quality education and enriching their culture. Completing an education and establishing a trade is the necessary vehicle to educate all people groups. The ultimate goal is to equip more young people academically and spiritually to reach the far ends of the earth with the gospel.
If you’re interested in missions in any way, Jeanne highly recommends taking the Perspectives course (or similar Pathways course).
Jeanne thanks you in advance for your prayers surrounding her work. For more information, please visit Jeanne’s blog, “Jeanne’s Little Mangoes”.
