Hope Reflected in Long Standing Water

Photographs by Miranda Clott

Winds of up to 175 mph, a death count of 1,836 with 705 still unaccounted for. People swam for their lives or became prisoner to 15 feet of water. That was five years ago. Today it looks as if hurricane Katrina just struck. Tragedy can happen anywhere despite the fact that God is everywhere. Living inside that conundrum, those who remain in New Orleans will tell you hope is their home.

Our opening will be part of the Spokane Visual Arts Tour Friday February 5th. Come between 5:00 and 9:00pm for art and hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy live music with Greg “Lightening Boy” Juran and Scott “Smokehouse” Brown. Come and see what remains from disaster—temporary treasures and permanent scars—odd symbols of hope for us these five years later.

Clearstory Gallery: We are connecting people to God through the influence of image, color, and form; finding the pure adoration of God in the reality/ beauty/ power of art. Clearstory Gallery is a new Fine Art Gallery located on the Life Center Campus 1202 N. Government Way near Spokane Falls Community College. Gallery Hours are 9-4 weekdays and during services.
