Bible Verses

I feel a little plagiaristic copying from the Empowering Families  blog again but here is a great article with 4 quick tips for helping your child memorize their Bible verses:

So here’s the situation. You’ve just been encouraged (guilted) into acknowledging that you’re not doing what you can with helping your child memorize Bible verses. You understand that we’re to hide God’s Word in our hearts…and that your child needs help, encouragement and motivation. But where do we begin? Here are four quick tips to help you as you work with your child in memorizing God’s Word.

1. Write them down

There’s nothing better than writing and rewriting the verse out. They hate it…but it works non-the-less.

2. Draw them out

For little children (unable to read) it’s probably better to draw it out. Have a quick game of Pictionary using the verse. Help them visually place God’s             word in their heart.

3. Hang them up

Hang the verse up in places that they see every day like the bathroom mirror or the kitchen cabinets.

4. Rinse and repeat

For Kids that learn audibly, it’s always great to recite the verse over and over again. Both speaking and listening will help drive it home.

There are so many other techniques such as creating a song, learning it to a beat, reciting it every day at meal-time

…all of these are great ways to place God’s Word deep into your child’s hearts and minds.
