Scripture: Ecclesiastes 4-6, Psalm 18, Ephesians 3
Ephesians 3:16-19 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Observation/application
This is one of the greatest prayers in Scripture—it is worth memorizing and praying for people you love!
The final goal of the prayer is that we may be filled “to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Be filled with God, filled with His love and power—and be filled fuller than full: be filled to the measure of His fullness. Not just filled to the measure of my fullness (what I can contain), but His fullness (all that He is).
Imagine holding a water bottle and standing near a lake. Paul isn’t just praying that your water bottle will be filled, but that you’ll have everything in the lake! Not just filled to the fullness of your water bottle, but to the measure of the fullness of the lake—fuller than full!
If we were that full of God, He would splashing out of us all over everyone around us!
Prayer: Lord, fill me fuller than full—and I pray that for my family, my friends, my church, and every believer I know!
